Item #1901

Washburn Style 245 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1900, made in Chicago, natural varnish finish, Brazillian rosewood back and sides, spruce top, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, brown soft shell case.

A very fancy high-grade flattop, although only in the middle of Lyon and Healy's premier Washburn line at the turn of the last century. This "1897 NEW MODEL" has an X-braced top and the patented Durkee bridge which wraps the strings around the pegs.

Overall length is 37 1/4 in. (94.6 cm.), 13 1/8 in. (33.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.).

100% original and very clean overall. Several repaired cracks in the lower back with no overfinishing; bridge has been repaired but is fully intact.

Currently strung and plays fine with authentic gut and silk-core strings, with a beautiful delicate sound. We would not recommend anything heavier than light silk-and-steel on this guitar. With old but not original SSC.
