Vox AC-4 Model Tube Amplifier (1962), made in Dartford, Kent, England, serial # 2512, Fawn Rexine fabric finish.

Height is 16 in. (40.6 cm.), 16 in. (40.6 cm.) width, and 7 1/2 in. (19 cm.) .

This little Vox AC-4 amp -- the smallest of the JMI line -- is one of the sweetest and most original early 1960s amps we have had in a long while. It is not unmarred; the outer "fawn Rexine" covering shows some light wear and a few small edge tears, the ID plate on the back has a couple of scrapes, and the control panel enamel has a few marks. Still, overall the amp has survived over 55 years without any apparent heavy use.

It is also completely original internally and externally, which is ever rarer as these units and their component parts age. One of the knobs lost its little gold cap long ago, otherwise the amp is as the gods (and the boffins at Jennings Musical Industries) made it. The original grey 8" Elac speaker is still intact, the original Mullard tubes still snug in their clips; even the rather wonky tiny wood-boxed trem pedal is still intact and working. The sound is not loud, but very touch sensitive and responsive and it is simply great fun to play.

The perfect tabletop or home recording amp, and one of the coolest and more perfect JMI products we have ever had. These early Vox amps were never sold in the US and are quite rare here; this is a lovely find in a pre-Beatle JMI Vox.

Note: This amp has no voltage selector and requires a voltage converter to use here in the US. Excellent Condition.
