Vega Style M Tu-Ba-Phone Conversion Model 5 String Banjo (1922), made in Boston, Mass., shaded maple finish, laminated maple rim; laminated mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, black hard shell case.

This banjo is very fine large-rim Tu-Ba-Phone conversion with a top-quality Vega style neck by Wyatt Frawley. The pot is a 1922 Style M short-neck tenor, and remains all original except for a couple of hooks and a newer No-Knot tailpiece. It is still equipped with an original 1920's Rodgers head which helps give it an exceptionally good sound, the very essence of "tubaphonery".

Overall length is 37 1/4 in. (94.6 cm.), 11 13/16 in. (30 cm.) diameter head, and 2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 26 in. (660 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/16 in. (33 mm.). Great sound, very well rounded with a deep and powerful ring. There is general wear to the original pot (especially on the botton edge)and the plating is fairly dull but it has no notable damage or repair, the more recent neck shows light wear overall. An exceptional player's old-time banjo, one of the best sounding Tu-Ba-Phones we have had. Very Good + Condition.
