Item #5267
Vega Cylinder Back Style 305 Model Arch Top Mandolin, c. 1916, made in Boston, natural finish, rosewood back and sides, spruce top; maple neck with ebony fingerboard, hard foam gig bag case.
Overall length is 25 in. (63.5 cm.), 10 5/8 in. (27 cm.) width, and 2 1/4 in. (5.7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 13 7/8 in. (352 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.). Very nice overall; there is some topwear on either side of the fingerboard that has been touched up with clearcoat and a single sealed grain crack along the back spine of the body, neatly closed but visible. Some of the pearl insets in the pickguard have glue added around and over them-not the neatest repair but visible only on close inspection. Other than these flaws a very fine example of Vega's best quality work; excellent sound and playability and a very lovely mandolin. Overall Excellent Condition.
