Van Eps Plectrum Conversion Model 5 String Banjo, c. 1920, made in Plainfield , New Jersey, natural varnish finish, laminated maple neck and rim, ebony fingerboard.
An original Van Eps plectrum banjo with an added fingerboard bump for a 5th string peg. The original internal dish resonator is missing and the tailpiece and tuners are newer; most other rim hardware is original. Replaced fingerboard with dot inlay similar to the original.
Overall length is 38 1/4 in. (97.2 cm.), 12 in. (30.5 cm.) diameter head, and 2 13/16 in. (7.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 28 1/2 in. (724 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/16 in. (33 mm.). Very Good + Condition.
