Item #2677

Supro Model Tube Guitar Amplifier, made by Valco, c. 1948, made in Chicago, grey keretol finish.

Supro's first post-WWII amplifier, sold under the imaginative name "Supro Amplifier" and also offered as a set with the earliest postwar plastic-covered steels. This amp features two inputs, a single volume control (with a very large and imposing knob!), a 10" field coil speaker, and around 10-12 watts output.

Valco was a period leader in electric instruments when Leo Fender was still building amplifiers in a metal shack, and this is a typically attractive well-engineered amp with a good raunchy tone.

Height is 14 1/4 in. (36.2 cm.), 14 7/8 in. (37.8 cm.) width, and 7 1/4 in. (18.4 cm.) deep.

Very nice playing condition; recently serviced. Some small rips and scuffing to the covering, average light wear overall. Handle replaced, but otherwise all original, including tubes and cord with molded plug.

A neat and still useful gigging amp for harp or guitar and quiet enough for recording purposes. Excellent Condition.
