Item #4825

Ray Alden Model 5 String Fretless Banjo (unlabelled), natural finish, gig bag case.

A likely handmade but well engineered 19th century style fretless banjo, which looks to be 20-25 years old. Nice dark minstrel-style sound; all wood rim no metal tonering. Planet tuners, No-Knot tailpiece-a good player but not marked with a maker's name or date.

Overall length is 36 3/4 in. (93.3 cm.), 12 in. (30.5 cm.) diameter head, and 2 7/8 in. (7.3 cm.) deep. Scale length is 26 in. (660 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/2 in. (38 mm.). Some general light play wear but overall well preserved. Excellent Condition.
