5 String Banjo (unlabelled), c. 1880, natural varnish finish, rosewood veneer laminated rim, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.
Overall length is 34 in. (86.4 cm.), 11 1/4 in. (28.6 cm.) width, and 2 1/2 in. (6.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/8 in. (35 mm.). Substantially original; set up for steel-string play with gold-plated planet pegs and a plastic head, otherwise unaltered. A good playing period banjo. Generally Excellent Condition.
