Open Back 5 String Banjo (maker unknown), c. 1880's - 1890's, probably American, worn black varnish finish, walnut neck (?).
Fretless neck, possibly original, with figure 8 pattern headstock. Wood rim with thin metal cladding and 8 tension hooks. The numeral "6" is stamped on the inside of the rim just above the dowel stick.
Overall length is 33 1/4 in. (84.4 cm.), 9 3/4 in. (24.8 cm.) diameter head, and 2 1/8 in. (5.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim.
Head is missing, as are several shoes, hooks and nuts. Sold As Is Condition.
