Item #670
Banjo Ukulele (maker unknown), c. 1920's, made in USA, natural finish.
A very simple 1920's "California Style" Banjo Uke with a charming full color transfer Hawaiian scene on the head. A young man wearing a lei serenades a grass-skirted Hula dancer in front of a "Little Grass Shack" under the palms.
Bracketless wooden body has metal resonator back, top mounted screw-down cast tension hoop. Maple neck has Bakelite and metal pegs, brass frets. Logo decal is on headstock but too chipped to be legible.
Overall length is 20 1/4 in. (51.4 cm.), 7 in. (17.8 cm.) diameter of rim, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim.
Not currently strung, set up as decorator item; no nut bridge or tailpiece. Considerable finish and plating on body and headstock wear from moisture but Hawaiian scene still intact and attractive. Sold As Is Condition.
