Teisco ET-230 Model Solid Body Electric Guitar, c. 1966, made in Japan, serial # 224246, Lake Placid Blue lacquer finish, hardwood body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original black chipboard case.

The Teisco ET-230 was one of the most stylish and colorful electric guitars to come out of the mid-60's "Japanese Invasion" period. From the same line as the celebrated Teisco Spectrum guitars, this instrument features a dramatic dressed away "German Curve" body design with exaggerated pointy cutaway horns. Sometimes nicknamed the "sharkfin" style, the body and neck are finished in a vibrant Lake Placid Blue finish as nice as anything Fender was doing at the time! The "striped" brushed metal pickguard mounts two pickups with individual on/off rocker switches, with an additional "rhythm/solo switch, with a master tone (that works backwards) and individual volume controls mounted below them. The headstock sports the trademark Teisco 4+2 tuner array and an almost ax-shaped upper profile. A snazzy, solid and snarly sounding guitar, this is a much better instrument than many period 1960's Japanese guitars. It proudly bears a colorful metal crown headstock badge proclaiming "Teisco del Rey" roughly translating as "Teisco of the King"king of what we're not sure, but it is certainly high up on the cool Japanese '60's guitar roster!

Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) deep. Scale length is 24 1/2 in. (622 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). Very fine original condition, with fairly minimal wear overall. There os one chip off the lower bass side corner of the headstock, and a few scratches to the pickguard but otherwise not much wear. The Logo plate and vibrato arm are exact modern repros; everything else is original. Great looking with a vibrant unfaded finish, and a good player as these go. Excellent - Condition.
