Item #4426
Stromberg-Voisinet Alden Composite Model 5 String Resonator Banjo, c. 1930's, made in Chicago, natural finish, laminated walnut resonator, maple rim, maple neck with Corian fingerboard.
This banjo consists of a typical higher-grade 1930s Stromberg-Voisinet/KayKraft rim and resonator with an added 5-string neck. The Walnut resonator has a large decal on the center back, while the rim, resonator edge, and hoop have decorative metal banding. The neck is finished dark with a light Corian fingerboard and pearloid/Corian headstock decoration. A very interesting and unusual 5-string conversion.
Overall length is 37 in. (94 cm.), 11 in. (27.9 cm.) diameter head, and 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 26 1/2 in. (673 mm.). Width of nut is 1 7/16 in. (36 mm.).
Excellent overall with only light signs of use. Tuners changed at some point leaving some screw holes in the back of the headstock. Set up with a black plastic head; a good player with a striking look. Excellent Condition.
