S. S. Stewart -The Student Model 5 String Banjo, made by Slingerland, c. 1928, made in Chicago, serial # 315, natural finish, maple rim and neck, ebonized fingerboard.
Overall length is 35 1/2 in. (90.2 cm.), 10 3/4 in. (27.3 cm.) diameter head, and 2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 26 1/4 in. (667 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.). All original fittings and hardware except a plastic head and a modern bridge and nut; some general wear but nothing too heavy. Small old sealed split to the heel cap, otherwise no repairs. A cool find in an authentic 1920's 5-string, a good learner's or string band banjo then and now! Excellent - Condition.
