Item #3569
Slingerland Maybell Model Banjo Ukulele, c. 1928, made in Chicago, natural varnish finish, maple rim and neck.
A nice example of a typical 1920's Slingerland-made banjo-uke. Natural maple finish, ebonized fingerboard with dot inlay; 7" rim with burl maple closed back arched-plate resonator. Deeply incised "MayBell" stamp on ebonized headplate; stamped Slingerland and Maybell on dowel. Bright-sounding and a very good player.
Overall length is 20 1/4 in. (51.4 cm.), 7 in. (17.8 cm.) diameter head, and 2 11/16 in. (6.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 13 7/8 in. (352 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.).
Well-preserved overall with some finish wear, most noticeable on the resonator back. All original hardware, set up with a newer skin head. Plays and sounds excellent. Excellent Condition.
