Item #5838

Slingerland May-Bell Model Banjo Ukulele, c. 1930, made in Chicago, two tone finish, maple neck, rim and resonator, original canvas case.

An attractive Slingerland May-Bell with a fairly unusual green-and-cream two-tone paint finish. The small rim coupled with a heavy carved resonator provides a lot of projection and snap for such a relatively unassuming looking instrument!

Overall length is 20 7/8 in. (53 cm.), 6 7/8 in. (17.5 cm.) diameter head, and 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 12 3/4 in. (324 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.). Nice overall with some small areas of finish loss along the edges; all original except recent tuners. It looks like the side rim of the resonator has been overfinished to black-for an even more colorful effect! A very good player with a seriously loud sound, with a worn old canvas case. Excellent - Condition.
