Rickenbacker 1993 Plus Owned and used by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco Model 12 String Electric Guitar (2023), made in Santa Ana, CA, serial # 23-09709, Jetglo black lacquer finish, maple body, laminated maple neck with paduak fingerboard, original molded black plastic hard shell case.

This model Rickenbacker Model 1993+ is a contemporary continuation of the 1960s Rose-Morris export version of the 360/12 semi-hollow 12-string electric guitar. This three-pickup maple thinline is outfitted with twelve jangly strings and a host of familiar Rickenbacker trappings in a Jetglo finish, with the added "+" of a third pickup. It is double bound with a flat top and traditional f-hole rather than the rounded carved top and cat's eye soundhole found on comparable standard 360-370 models. So often, modern recreations of a vintage model feature a slimmer neck more popular contemporary players; here is the opposite, a slightly wider than vintage spec neck that corrects a common critique of original Rickenbackers: those tiny necks.

The electronics are the standard vintage Rickenbacker style with three "toaster top" pickups offering stereo or mono output and the 5-knob array with the small "blend" control that balances the pickups but has generally confused generations of players. It offers the classic chimey Rickenbacker "jangle", a fun and playful reissue of a rare Rickenbacker 12-string made famous in particular by Pete Townsend. This particular model was previously owned (and outfitted with a quirky custom pickguard) by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco.

Overall length is 40 1/4 in. (102.2 cm.), 15 in. (38.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 in. (2.5 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 1/4 in. (616 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).

This guitar appears very little used, with only tiny handling marks and no real wear or damage. There are hardly any scratches even in the deep Jetglo lacquer finish. The electronics are all original inside and out, as is most of the hardware; there is a little "sweat wear" on the plating. The only notable change is a charming one: Mr. Tweedy replaced the upper tier of the white plastic pickguard with a cloudy pink and purple replica of the exact correct size, made from a colored vinyl LP! This small casually psychedelic change is the sole non-original, non-pristine element present.

The guitar plays and sounds exactly as it should and comes in the original deluxe molded plastic Rickenbacker case with some case candy and the typical markings of the Wilco loft along the bottom edge. Inside the case is some Rickenbacker paperwork and the certificate of authenticity from the Wilco Loft validating the provenance of this piece. Overall Excellent Condition.
