Item #5892
B & J Serenader Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, made by Regal, c. 1937, made in Chicago, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.
Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 14 3/16 in. (36 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/4 in. (641 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). Very nicely set up recently with a neck set, period correct style refret and excellent repro bridge. There are a few old repairs-the top center seam has been re-sealed and there is an inconspicuous grain split on the treble side waist but on the whole this is a very well preserved guitar. Extremely good sound for a ladder braced guitar; deeper and fuller than most. A nice example of what the original Regal company of Chicago could do when they were contracted to make a good quality instrument! Excellent - Condition.
