Petitjean a Paris Romantic Guitar, c. 1810, made in Mirecourt, France, natural top, dark stained back and sides finish, maple back and sides, spruce top, black hard shell case.
Here is a wonderfully playable and beautiful sounding early 19th Century romantic guitar, from a known French maker.
Overall length is 36 7/8 in. (93.7 cm.), 11 1/4 in. (28.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/8 in. (7.9 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 13/16 in. (46 mm.).
This instrument is in excellent playing condition. It has been refretted up to the 11th fret with later-style metal frets and the neck may have had some additional blacking. Overall the guitar is in very original condition for a nearly 200 year old piece. Includes a newer hard shell case. Excellent Condition.
