Item #4085

Unlabeled Model Soprano Ukulele, made by Oscar Schmidt, c. 1920, made in Jersey City, NJ, natural varnish finish, koa wood body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.

A very nice early koa wood Oscar Schmidt uke. The interior label reads "Genuine Hawaiian Koa Wood" and for once is actually accurate! Bound top, back, and soundhole; two-piece back; early Hawaiian-style round-top headstock with metal and celluloid banjo tuners; extended rosewood fingerboard. A lovely example of a high quality mainland ukulele from the earliest period of manufacture.

Overall length is 21 in. (53.3 cm.), 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 3/8 in. (6 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 13 in. (330 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/16 in. (33 mm.).

Very nice original condition with some finish wear, mostly to the back. Plays and sounds very well. Generally Excellent Condition.
