Item #2680

National Tube Amplifier, c. 1946, made in Chicago, tweed fabric covering finish.

This is a honking and shouting amp, for sure! A just-postwar National, this was a fairly large and deluxe amp for its day. Two channels, Instrument (with two inputs) and Microphone (with one) and a volume control for each, which do go to 12!

All controls are back-mounted (guitarists sat BEHIND their amps on the 1940's bandstand!) and the face has three staggered length speaker vents lined in fabric and a nifty National metal shield pinned on.

The spiffy two tone back plate is marked "MFD. By N.D.C." (National-Dobro Corporation), dating this amp to around or soon after the time the company was re-organised as Valco, retaining the National and Supro brand names as "A" and "B" level lines.

This is a great blues guitar or harp amp and a nifty companion piece to period National (or other) electric guitars.

Height is 19 in. (48.3 cm.), 16 1/2 in. (41.9 cm.) width, and 8 1/2 in. (21.6 cm.) deep.

Some staining and small rips to the tweed covering but overall very nice condition. Handle is replaced. Original Jensen speaker and tube layout appears stock as well.

This is a used but very original 1940's amp. Excellent Condition.
