Item #3684
National Triple Eight Model High Steel Electric Guitar (1955), made in Chicago, two tone lacquer finish, original tweed hard shell case.
A great-looking (and sounding!) piece of 1950's playable art, this super-streamline two-tone triple-8 steel looks ready to take off at a moment's notice! National instruments from this era have a very distinctive style and sound, and despite often being remembered as "cheap," were not inexpensive either in cost or quality when new. This striking black and white triple-neck has typically powerful Valco pickups to complement its radical styling, and was a fully professional instrument in its day.
These multi-neck console steels would soon be made obsolete by the development of the modern pedal steel, but offer a lot of sound and inimitable style for the buck today. A fine and versatile instrument for any retro-styled steel player and a streamlined swing machine in the right hands!
Overall length is 35 in. (88.9 cm.), 16 1/2 in. (41.9 cm.) width, and 3 in. (7.6 cm.) in depth at side. Scale length is 23 in. (584 mm.). Width of nut is 2 1/4 in. (57 mm.).
All original except new tuner buttons; very clean overall with just some light wear. Excellent Condition.
