Item #2897
National Triolian Tenor Model Resophonic Guitar, c. 1933, made in Los Angeles, California, "frosted duco" crystaline paint finish, steel body, maple neck with ebonized fingerboard.
An extremely rare instrumenta 1933 "B" series Triolian Tenor Guitar with the unusual green crystaline finish peculiar to this specific batch of guitars. The wild almost Art Nouveau look of of the swirling green metallic paint on these instruments is certainly uniquerather like an abstract jungle.
This is also one of the best-sounding National tenors we have ever heard, with a lot of 'bang' for the buck! You could easily drive a full jazz band with this guitar.
Overall length is 34 in. (86.4 cm.), 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/4 in. (8.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 23 in. (584 mm.).
Quite a bit of wear; well-played, but newly set up and ready to play again. The decal is heavily flaked and the body has a lot of edgewear and strumwear but the finish is still quite attractive.
There is an inexplicable half-hole in the face of the headstock, as if someone started drilling for a cord and then gave up! New frets, nut, and saddle, but everything else original.
This guitar actually looks a lot better than the description sounds, and it has a fabulous tone. Very Good + Condition.
