Item #2883

National Style 1 Tricone Squareneck Model Resophonic Guitar (1928), made in California, nickel plated finish, Germnan silver body, ebony fingerboard, black tolex original hard shell case.

A well-preserved and wonderful-sounding early National, with the extra bonus of a period-decorated original case.

The National Tricone is generally considered the best acoustic Hawaiian guitar ever built, and this may well be the best-sounding Hawaiian Tricone we have ever heard.

Built in the model's second production year of 1928, this instrument is a wonderful example of the 'state of the art' acoustic steel from the jazz age, which has never been bettered.

Overall length is 38 7/8 in. (98.7 cm.), 14 1/8 in. (35.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 1/8 in. (7.9 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.).

All original except more recent (probably 1950's) strip tuners. Decal, cones, nut, and saddle all intact; some average clouding to the finish and small dents/dings but no major wear or damage. Plating intact except for a wear area on the handrest.

Case is battered but functional, the headstock end showing considerable wear. Excellent Condition.
