Nash Wayfarer W-3 Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (2017), made in Olympia, Washington, serial # NG-3573, Fiesta Red lacquer finish, Alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original brown hard shell case.
Nash Guitars was founded by Bill Nash in 2001, based in Washington State. The company builds instruments from US-made bodies and necks designed to replicate the feel and sound of many vintage models featuring artificial aging done by hand. Most are based on trued and true Fender formulas, but this one is a bit different.
The Wayfarer is a more recent addition to the Nash family, according to the company inspired by the symmetrical lines and cheerful colors used by the US automotive industry in the late 1950s and early 60s. Designed to be unique in appearance, the Wayfarer is a mutated twist on the traditional Stratocaster based design with some unique touches. The maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard is typically Strat-derived, but the body offers up a number of surprises.
This model features a semi-hollow alder body with a symmetrical double cutaway, rather like a Stratocaster mated with an early 1960s Epiphone solidbody. The chambered body design provides significant weight relief and the "open" pickguard with a single F-hole is a visual nod to the late '60s Fender Telecaster Thinline. This one is finished in an aged Fiesta Red with twin symmetrical "Mint Green" pickguards. Nash's unique pickguard arrangement over a chambered provides the character of the semi-hollow body while maintaining more of the tone and sustain of a solid body. The trem system is solidly Strat-inspired with a heftier bar.
The Wayfarer retains the Stratocaster's 3-pickup layout but uses the three humbuckers like the '60s SG Custom. These are controlled with a five way selector switch and push/pull coil tap tone knob. This guitar features DiMarzio BluesBuckers in the neck and middle positions, and a DiMarzio Air Norton in the bridge. The Bluesbucker isa P-90/PAF hybrid, designed to have extremely low string pull while still offering high output, also producing a genuine single coil sound when tapped. DiMarzio claims it sounds like a P90 while canceling 60-cycle hum as effectively as the average humbucker. This guitar can effortlessly shift from Strat-like tones including the 2 and 4 position "quack" to full Humbucking mode, offering an interesting and uniquely versatile take on a modern/vintage instrument.
Overall length is 39 1/8 in. (99.4 cm.), 13 in. (33 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
This 9 year old guitar appears in lightly played condition, looking not too much used. Of course it was built to look like it's been rode hard for 60+ years, but then that's the idea. It performs exactly as it should and includes the original oval hard case with the hand filled-in Nash hangtag. The frets show hardly any wear, this is a unique sounding and ready to gig modern "Old" guitar. Overall Excellent Condition.
