Item #3259

Mosrite Joe Maphis Mark I Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar, c. 1968, made in Bakersfield, California, natural lacquer finish, walnut body with spruce top, maple nack with rosewood fingerboard, original black hard shell case.

An unusual and interesting late-60's Semie Moseley design. The Maphis model is built using a soild block of walnut routed from the front capped with a solid 3/4" thick carved piece of sprucethis is a thin but fully hollow guitar. The other fittings are standard Mosrite including the "Moseley" vibrato tailpiece, adjustable bridge, black-plastic covered pickups, and slim neck with super fast action.

Joe Maphis was Moseley's first endorser, but this signature guitar model was not introduced until fairly late in the company's original run. This particular guitar does not carry the "Joe Maphis Model" logo and may be a late example from shortly before the Mosrite company's first collapse in early 1969. This is a somewhat overlooked but high-quality, good-sounding 1960's guitar, with a more rounded mellow twang than the popular solidbody Ventures model Mosrite, and all the same features at a considerably lower price!

Overall length is 42 3/8 in. (107.6 cm.), 15 1/2 in. (39.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 1/2 in. (622 mm.). Width of nut is 1 5/8 in. (41 mm.).

All original with only minor playwear. Includes the original case and extra springs for the vibrato, one with a tag "For heavy strings only", and an original Mosrite E string in the package! Excellent + Condition.
