Item #4032
Marma Solid Body Electric Guitar, c. 1960's, made in East Germany, black lacquer finish.
This black and white beauty from the land of the Stasi is simply one of the coolest-looking electric guitars we have ever seen! Two metal-covered pickups (marked "Rellog Gitona") with tone, volume, and 4-way selector knob. Very thin, light body with what appears to be a spruce top and back. The jack is neatly faired into the side with a nifty plastic bushing!
Headstock very eccentrically shaped in a rather Fenton-Weil reminiscent motif and is faced in off-white celluloid. "Marma" logo on pickguard in raised plastic letters. Actually a surprisingly good-playing and sounding instrument, at least within the parameters of its type. These vintage Eastern European guitars rarely turn up in the US, and this is a stunningly well-preserved "under-the-bed" example of an extremely stylish design.
Overall length is 40 1/2 in. (102.9 cm.), 12 3/4 in. (32.4 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 in. (635 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.).
Beautiful original condition, complete except the vibrato arm assembly, and with almost no wear. Excellent + Condition.
