Item #5824

Unique Model 26 Model Tube Guitar Amplifier, made by Magnatone, c. 1967, made in Harmony, Pennsylvania, black checked and standard black tolex with white piping finish.

This very interesting amplifier was manufactured by Magnatone in their post Torrance, CA days for Laub Engineering. Amplifiers built for Laub Engineering by Magnatone are variously labeled Northfield, IL and Mequon, WI this example is labeled Northfield, IL. The Unique Model 26 draws on the Magnatone aesthetic for the design of the chassis and cabinet, but its exterior appointments are much fancier than any Magnatone or other private label Magnatone contracted with. The cabinet is quite a bit sturdier than most Magnatone amplifiers as it is made of wood rather than the more common paste board composite.

The circuit is identical to the Magnatone 260A (which by this point had been designated model 262 to satisfy dealer demand for a non-reverb twin twelve amplifier) and features the mythical Magnatone true pitch shifting vibrato.

Height is 21 1/2 in. (54.6 cm.), 26 1/8 in. (66.4 cm.) width, and 9 in. (22.9 cm.) deep. All original. Missing foot switch. Original schematic affixed to the backboard. Excellent + Condition.
