Item #5469
Lyon & Healy Re-necked Model Semi-Fretless Banjo, c. 1895, made in Chicago, natural finish, spunover rim, maple neck with ebony and copper fingerboard, gig bag case.
This interesting semi-fretless banjo is built on an old Lyon & Healy rim circa 1895, with a recent (probably 1990's) neck. The fingerboard is fretted from frets 5-15, scooped above and fitted with a copper fingerboard in the 1st to 5th fret area. An unusual but very good playing Old-Time hybrid instrument with an excellent sound.
Overall length is 37 in. (94 cm.), 11 11/16 in. (29.7 cm.) diameter head, and 2 1/4 in. (5.7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 27 in. (686 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.). More wear to the rim than neck (it's that 100 year age differential!) but overall in very nice playing condition. Set up with a skin head, recent Planet tuners and a modern No-Knot tailpiece. Excellent - Condition.
