Item #6541

Vinny Roberts Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar, made by Kay, c. 1962, made in Chicago, sunburst lacquer finish, laminated maple body, spruce top; maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.

We don't know who "Vinny Roberts" was, but he likely ran a teaching studio in the early '60's and had an account with Kay in Chicago. This guitar is a good mid-grade archtop typical of that company's work, with distinctive Kay features like the checkerboard edge binding and "pick" shaped fingerboard inlay. The sound is quite good for a laminated archtop, and the neck is slimmer and more comfortable than many similar Kay guitars.

Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 15 5/8 in. (39.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 3/4 in. (9.5 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Very nice original condition-the neck has been reset and refretted so this is a far better player than most similar Kay guitars. Appears all original except the pickguard is missing. A good playing and sounding archtop mid-line archtop. Excellent - Condition.
