Kay Kay Kraft Style A Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1932, made in Chicago, sunburst lacquer with stenciling finish, laminated mahogany body, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebonized fingerboard, black chipboard case.

A very good example of Kay's signature early-'30's line of asymmetrical-bodied round hole archtops, carrying the "house" Kay Kraft brand name. This mahogany-bodied Style A guitar was the lowest of the 3-guitar line, the original price listing at $25.00. The triple bound sunburst top has elaborate stencil decoration on the lower half, as does the pickguard. The bolt on neck is adjustable for angle with a huge wing nut on neck block, which actually works for setting the action although it was a rather short-lived feature. The open back 3-on-a-plate tuners have white plastic buttons, mounted on a white pearloid headstock adorned with a gold-painted raised "Kay Kraft" logo and edging decoration. This guitar has an unusual movable molded bakelite original bridge, seen on Kay Kraft instruments for a short time. A particularly nice "A" with a good plunky sound.

Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 14 3/8 in. (36.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 3/4 in. (9.5 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 3/4 in. (654 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). All original (including the oft-missing bridge) and in very good playing condition. Some small scratching and dings, there is a mark on the top from where the bridge sat (too far forward) for years and moderately heavy capo wear on the back of the neck but overall one of the nicer Kay Krafts we have had. Excellent Condition.
