Kay K-6140 Rhythm Special Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1967), made in Chicago, natural top, sunburst back and sides finish, maple back and sides, spruce top; maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, gig bag case.

Overall length is 41 in. (104.1 cm.), 15 5/8 in. (39.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 5/8 in. (11.7 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 15/16 in. (49 mm.). Very clean overall-just a little pickwear through the finish where the pickguard would have been! All original except the tuners have been replaced with newer Kluson Deluxes. A bit goofy looking with its classical-style neck and bridge and huge decal soundhole decoration but this is actually a surprisingly good sounding flat-top, X braced and substantial feeling with a big chunky tone. This was Kay's top-of-the-line "folk" guitar in 1967 and and cost all of $100 new. Currently strung with heavy strings and tuned to "D", with a pickup jack and connector so easily electrified as desired. it's a very cool fingerpicking or blues machine, and definitely unusual. Excellent - Condition.
