Item #5146
Kay K-161 Thin Twin Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar, c. 1960, made in Chicago, natural top, sunburst back and sides finish, laminated maple body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, original two-tone soft shell case.
Overall length is 40 3/4 in. (103.5 cm.), 15 in. (38.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Overall very nice-good neck set, all original finish and hardware. This guitar is a better player than most examples of this model we find-not only is the neck angle excellent, the frets are better than average as well. There are small ares of finish chipping on the side edges, and around the heel and headstock rim. The back of the neck of the neck has some wear in the first position. The silver paint on the knobs is worn, all other hardware quite clean. A really fine example of the rarer later version of one of Kay's best-regarded instruments. Overall Excellent Condition.
