Item #3908

Kalamazoo KG 3/4 Sport Model Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1938, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck; spruce top.

This little 3/4 guitar was a later addition to the Kalamazoo line, available from 1937-41. Built on the pattern of 1920s TG-1 tenor guitar body, the "Sport Model" is a dainty tight-waisted design compared to the more familiar stumpy-bodied KG-11. The neck is very slim with a fairly sharp "V" profile, center-peak peghead with Kalamazoo silkscreen logo, and early Kluson strip tuners. Typical nice late-'30s wide sunburst top single bound with bound soundhole edge and firestripe celluloid pickguard.

The sound is bright and tight; this would make a great high-strung "Nashville" tuned guitar. A fairly rare small-body Gibson design, and dare we say, an awfully cute little guitar.

Overall length is 36 3/8 in. (92.4 cm.), 12 5/8 in. (32.1 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 3 7/8 in. (9.8 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 23 in. (584 mm.). Width of nut is 1 9/16 in. (40 mm.).

General finish wear but very solid overall. All original except possibly bridge saddle. A nice little player. Generally Excellent Condition.
