Item #4120
Kaholas & Co. Hawaiian Model Soprano Ukulele, c. 1920, made in Hawaii, natural varnish finish, koa wood body and neck.
An early Hawaiian ukulele branded Kaholas & Co., showing many of the traits of the Manuel Nunes instruments of the period, including the arched back. Nice original white celluloid tuners; interior label reads "Ukulele O Hawaii, highest grade for tone quality and workmanship, Kaholas & Co.". This is a plain-style uke (equivalent to the Nunes Style 1), but it sounds and plays very well.
Overall length is 20 1/4 in. (51.4 cm.), 5 7/8 in. (14.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 13 in. (330 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/2 in. (38 mm.).
One long top crack by treble side of bridge; several small back cracks. Nice overall with some noticeable fingerboard wear in the region of the first few frets. Generally Excellent Condition.
