Jose Ramirez 125 Anno Model Classical Guitar (2008), made in Madrid, Spain
Madrid, serial # 664, natural lacquer finish, rosewood back and sides, cedar top; Honduran cedar neck with ebony fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.
This Jose Ramirez "125 Anos" was part a limited-edition run built in Madrid to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Ramirez workshop, designed by Amalia Ramirez as a classy all-solid-wood student/studio model offered at an affordable price. It features a solid Western red cedar top with traditional Ramirez fan bracing over solid Indian rosewood back and sides. The neck is Honduran cedar constructed with a traditional Spanish heel. The fingerboard is ebony and the bridge is Indian rosewood featuring a signature rose inlay which is repeated in the soundhole rosette. The finish is gloss lacquer finish (sprayed a bit heavy on the bridge of this example) and the headstock is fitted with gold-plated tuners with ivoroid buttons. This is a fine playing, attractive looking and very good sounding instrument at a quite reasonable price for a solid wood Spanish-made Ramirez.
Overall length is 39 1/4 in. (99.7 cm.), 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 7/8 in. (657 mm.). Width of nut is 2 in. (51 mm.).
This is a very clean and fine playing guitar, showing only light handling wear with minor scuffing overall. There is no notable damage or repair, as noted above there is a bit of visibly heavy lacquer spray on the bridge going opaque in spots on the wings but this does not affect function in any way. This is a lovely player with a strong articulate sound and would make an excellent performance or studio instrument, complete in a solid HSC. Overall Excellent Condition.
