Harmony Stratotone Jupiter Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1964), Chicago.

As popularized by Spencer Davis of the Spencer Davis Group, the Harmony Stratotone Jupiter is a fabulous and super cool mid level professional guitar from the 1960's. Priced at just a few dollars less than a Fender Esquire, it was quite high end for Harmony, and was the top of their "semi-solid" line starting in 1958. This one is from 1964 and has a cheaper stamped tailpiece and lighter knobs, but is otherwise identical to the original 1958 model. Sporting two great-sounding DeArmond "Golden Indox" pickups, this guitar has plenty of tonal possibilityHarmony advertised it thusly: "Practically unlimited variations of tone, with simplified technique!" Although we cannot quite advertise the pickup circuit as being exactly intuitive, it is fully functional, with a conventional 3-way switch plus an exciting "Blender" control setting. An incredibly well preserved, superbly playable example!

Overall length is 38 1/4 in. (97.2 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 in. (610 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). Fantastic all-original condition-appears completely original and untouched except the bridge refuses to move and has likely been glued to the top. Aside from this and only some tiny pickwear marks to the top about as nice a one of these as we have ever seen. Set up with era-correct flatwound strings, plays and sounds great and includes the original case and white molded cord, and a period "Tempo" celluloid pick. Excellent + Condition.
