Item #5757
Silvertone Model Soprano Ukulele, made by Harmony, c. 1955, made in Chicago, shaded lacquer with stenciling finish, birch body, poplar neck with plastic fingerboard, original box case.
Overall length is 20 3/4 in. (52.7 cm.), 6 5/8 in. (16.8 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 3/8 in. (6 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 13 in. (330 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/8 in. (35 mm.). Very clean, appears little used if at allonly a slight shrinking of the top and back and a few chips to the painted "binding" keep this from being a near mint instrument. A nice decorative uke, this comes with the original early 1950's shipping box from Harmony to Sears in Atlanta, GA, which then went out to the customer. The box is a little tatty but is marked with useful homilies like "Fragile-Do Not Drop Or Throw". A neat find in a nearly 60 year old uke, with a bit of the story still with it. Excellent Condition.
