Item #5008
Guild T-100D Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1966), made in Hoboken, sunburst lacquer finish, laminated maple body; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, gig bag case.
The T-100-D was one of Guild's 1960's stand-bys, a bargain in a professional grade guitar with most of the design features of the popular Starfire series at a slightly lower price. The thin 16" single-cutaway body is sunburst-finished maple with bound top and unbound back. The pickups are Guild's thin white plastic & metal covered single-coil units, nicknamed the "Mickey Mouse" pickup by the company's employees. The tailpiece is the standard Guild harp-shaped fitting paired with a Hagstrom Adjustomatic bridge. The bound mahogany neck has a dot-inlaid rosewood fingerboard and the headstock has the standard mid-60's Guild plastic overlay with "chesterfield" column inlay. This guitar has a brighter, snappier sound than the Humbucker equipped Starfires and is quite a versatile instrument, excellent for everything from country to garage-band rock. An excellent player and still a very good value in a 1960's vintage hollowbody guitar.
Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Well played and with good reason-this is a great feeling guitar! We don't know if this belonged to a lady named Jill, or someone who fancied a Jill, but that name is discreetly carved in small letters into the headstock face, back of headstock and on the back upper bout. It's even carved in TINY litters on the cap of the volume knob! No other alterations; quite a bit of general wear (mostly to the back and sides, and the back of the neck) the face is still fairly clean with good colorto the sunburst. The guitar looks like it may have sat in a damp case long ago resulting in some heavy finish flaking on the back edge and sides. All original hardware in fine condition except pickguard is missing. A very solid guitar, plays and sounds great! Very Good + Condition.
