Guild Starfire II Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1966), made in Hoboken, cherry lacquer finish, laminated mahogany body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

This is very fine playing 1966 Guild Starfire II. The "II" was the first and simplest of the Starfire models with a single cutaway, fully hollow body, Guild harp tailpiece, adjustable Hagstrom-made bridge and two Guild Hum bucking pickups. The thinline body has a cherry finish, bound top and back, with a one-piece mahogany neck and bound dot-inlaid rosewood fingerboard. This is great '60's Rock and Roll guitar from the end of the 'Beat Boom' era, and one of the few remaining competitively affordable original classic American guitars from that era. This type of Guild was extensively used by countless mid-1960's groups including the Kinks, Beau Brummels, Music Machine, Billy J. Kramer's Dakotas and many more and was easily Guild's most popular professional grade electric guitar.

Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth at side. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Overall this is an extremely clean guitar, with a lovely unfaded cherry finish and completely original hardware. Small finish dings here and there, the biggest over the bass-side F hole. The back of the headstock only has a very old dark overspray; while this usually this indicates some sort of headstock work we can find no evidence of any repair even under blacklight inspection. There are small rubber-burn marks to the lower sides of the headstock from an old hanger, but no other disturbance to the sides or face. It may have been something as simple as a headstock wing delaminationAt any rate, this is a wonderful player with the best neck angle we have seem on a period Starfire and two fairly hot Guild humbuckung pickups. A really cool '60's guitar at a reasonable price! Overall Excellent - Condition.
