Item #2624
Guild Starfire II Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1963), made in Hoboken, NJ, cherry lacquer finish, laminated mahogany body, mahogany neck, black tolex original hard shell case.
A beautiful example of an early Starfire, complete with the desirable white-topped DeArmond Dynasonic pickups (the same type unit used by Gretsch on their 1950's classics). Very bright unfaded cherry finish; body triple bound; front, back, and fingerboard single bound. Original Grover 'Sta-tite' tuners and Hagstrom 'adjust-o-matic' bridge.
Great-playing and spectacular-sounding guitar, with a tone you could describe as a 1950's Gretsch crossed with an ES-330, but with an additional high-end 'snap'.
Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 16 1/2 in. (41.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) deep. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.).
All original with some minor playing wear. A nicely preserved guitar with only small finish dings; even the often-shrunken headstock veneer is perfect, as is all the binding. Original hardshell case has typical edgewear.
These formerly under-appreciated 1960's guitars are finally becoming better known and respected, and this is a particularly nice example. Excellent Condition.
