Item #6738

Guild M-65 3/4 Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1971), made in Westerly, RI, serial # 52953, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, laminated maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.

The Guild M-65 is a great playing little guitar, with a small fully hollow F-hole body and a short scale neck. Despite its diminutive size the guitar is surprisingly full sounding, incredibly light and very comfortable to handle. This example was made in 1971, soon after guild moved to their new Rhode Island factory but is still in many ways a '60's-feeling guitar, down to its old-style "Mickey Mouse" single-coil pickup. One of Guild's often forgotten designs, this M-65 3/4 is a neat piece of unusual vintage Guild cool.

Overall length is 37 in. (94 cm.), 13 5/8 in. (34.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 22 5/8 in. (575 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This guitar remains relatively clean and original except for the period addition of Grover Rotomatic tuners, as was common at the time. There are small dings and scuffs overall; the only really notable spots of damage are chips to the headstock veneer from the somewhat sloppy Groverization, with some small attempts at touch up. A nice player and a cool example of one of the nicer 3/4 electric solidbodies. Excellent - Condition.
