Guild F-212-XL Model 12 String Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1967, made in Hoboken, NJ, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; laminated mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, gig bag case.
The F-212-XL was a later addition to Guild's 12-string line, introduced in 1966. It was the the same basic instrument as the familiar mahogany F-212 but built with a larger 17" body. These are some of the best-sounding 12-strings Guild ever made, with extra depth and power compared to their smaller relatives. For some reason the serial nunber records for this particular model are missing, but based on its features this guitar appears to date from 1967. This guitar has been used fairly extensively but remains in very good playing condition, with a marvelous sound.
Overall length is 43 7/8 in. (111.4 cm.), 17 1/16 in. (43.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 15/16 in. (49 mm.).
Very good playing condition; appears to have had a neckset and bridge is cut down somewhat. Older under-bridge contact pickup installed, with endpin jack. Numerous finish nicks, scrapes, and dings; finish well worn on neck, but no major damage or cracks. Tuners restored to original Japanese-made open back strips. Very fine sound and a good gigging example of this fairly rare 12-string. Overall Very Good + Condition.
