Item #6580
Guild F-212 Model 12 String Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1967), made in Hoboken, NJ, serial # AN-1501, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; laminated mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black tolex hard shell case.
We consider the Hoboken-built Guild F-212 to be easily one of the best postwar 12-strings made. The medium-sized mahogany body and spruce top combine to produce a warm yet bright sound with plenty of 'ring'. The big wide mahogany neck with a center maple strip lamination and unbound rosewood fingerboard is quite comfortable. The F-212 was the world standard acoustic 12-string when new in the 1960's, and remains so today!
Overall length is 43 in. (109.2 cm.), 15 3/4 in. (40 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 15/16 in. (49 mm.). This guitar has some general wear and tear, with dings and scrapes overall but no major finish loss. The bridge had been cleanly lowered and deeply slotted to maintain break angle over the saddle; the action is currently 4/32" on both sides. The top center seam has been re-sealed but no other crack repairs; there are signs of an old bridge re-glue and a couple of old sealed cracks between the pins. The headstock veneer is showing some shrinkage, as is typical wih these. There is an added strap button at the heel. The guitar plays well with a huge ringing sound. Very Good + Condition.
