Item #7228
Guild A-50 Model Arch Top Acoustic Guitar (1967), made in Hoboken, sunburst lacquer finish, maple body, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, original black chipboard case.
By the mid/late 1960's acoustic archtops were getting increasingly less relevant to most players; this is a fairly late example of the type. The Guild A-50 is a plainly-ornamented but very well-made guitar, with a quite good acoustic sound despite lacking a carved spruce top. With typical 1960's Guild appointments what it feels most like is an unplugged Hoboken-made electric guitar, though it does sound better than most! A very playable and fun guitar, in immaculately well preserved condition.
Overall length is 41 1/2 in. (105.4 cm.), 16 1/4 in. (41.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This guitar is all original, and super cleanwhat else can we add? We sometimes wish all old guitars were this well preserved! It shows just some very light handling marks and that's it. Includes the original period chipboard case emblazoned with a nifty period Florida vacation sticker. Excellent + Condition.
