Item #3088

Gretsch White Falcon Model Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1968), made in Brooklyn, NY, white lacquer finish, laminated maple body and neck, ebony fingerboard, original hard shell case.

A very nice example of a late-60's mono White Falcon, the "Crme de la Gretsch" and one of the flashiest guitars ever built. With the exception of the new-for-'67 recessed-edge knobs, this guitar still sports all "pre-Baldwin" features, including twin patent-number Filter'tron pickups, telescoping-arm Gretsch vibrato, and "Kidney button" Grover Imperial tuners.

While never made in large quantities, these very expensive buxom Mae West-like hollowbodies were falling out of favor by 1968 and are quite rare guitars. Resplendant in gleaming white festooned with gold sparkle, this 6-string fretted burlesque queen is still hard to beat for over-the-top flash.

Overall length is 44 1/4 in. (112.4 cm.), 17 in. (43.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.).

Excellent, all original condition. Some minor neck wear and one repaired pickguard crack, otherwise no issues to speak of.

A great-sounding Gretsch and seemingly, in spite of the dreaded "tuning fork" bridge setup, a great playing one as well.

Includes excellent original case.
