Gretsch PX-6192 Country Club Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1964), made in Brooklyn, NY, serial # 70960, sunburst lacquer finish, laminated maple body with spruce top, laminated maple neck with ebony fingerboard, original grey hard shell case.

This is a fine example of an early-1960's Gretsch Country Club with an unusual period-specific combination of features. This guitar has a laminated spruce top which while occasionally seen on Country Clubs is a very rare feature on 1960's Gretsches, combined with the thin 2" deep body used on this model only in 1962-64. This results in a great sounding and playing guitar, with a feel unique to 'Clubs from this exact period-in fact very similar to the VERY rare last single cutaway mono White Falcons. This Club sports the typical period Gretsch appointments: two Filter'tron humbucking pickups, Grover Imperial tuners with "Kidney" shaped buttons, "G-arrow" knobs, the "Space Control" bridge and the lever-action mute, with the access hatch in the back covered by a large pad. This is also quite a fancy guitar-all edges are multibound, all metal hardware is gold plated and the ebony fingerboard has the half-moon "Neo-Classic" inlays. This is a super classy Gretsch, and a great guitar for Rockabilly, Beat Group stylings, Vintage Country or even Jazz.

Overall length is 42 5/8 in. (108.3 cm.), 17 1/4 in. (43.8 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). Very clean overall, nicely original with some typical minor wear. The guitar has been refretted with correct style wire and the neck has been reset cleanly-there is some visible touch-up notably around the heel dowel but overall a nice job. There is some scuffing and minor tough-up to the top, mostly under the bridge and signs of a one-time Bigsby installation-the original tailpiece is now back in place. The mute foam has been replaced and the lower strap button is a Gibson style piece, otherwise all original hardware. There are a few spots of "strap burn" just on the neck heel, but overall the neck finish is quite clean. A fine playing and sounding example of this rare spruce top 'Club, one of Gretsch's better-kept secrets! Includes a very nice original case. Excellent Condition.
