Gretsch PX-6192 Country Club Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1964), made in Brooklyn, NY, sunburst lacquer finish, laminated maple body and neck, ebony fingerboard, original two-tone hard shell case.

A lovely example of a mid-1960's Gretsch Country Club, the period when the company returned this model to its 1950's jazz guitar roots after a few years as a thin-rimmed instrument. With a full-depth 2 3/4' body this guitar is more reminiscent of the original 1950's Country Clubs more than it is of most 1960's Gretsch models. This Club has the typical Gretsch appointments: two Filter'tron pickups, Grover Imperial tuners with "Kidney" shaped buttons, "G-arrow" knobs, the "Space Control" bridge, without the mute or other gadgetry that cluttered up many of the company's other high-end models. This is still quite a fancy guitar-all edges are multibound, all metal hardware is gold plated and the ebony fingerboard has the half-moon "Neo-Classic" inlays. This is a super classy Gretsch, and a great guitar for Rockabilly, early Rock&Roll stylings, Vintage Country or even Jazz (Ask Al Caiola!).

Overall length is 43 1/4 in. (109.9 cm.), 17 in. (43.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This guitar is almost astoundingly clean overall; it would rate a "vintage near mint" designation except for the beginnings of celluliod deterioration on the binding in some isolated spots along the edges. The most notable area is the typical spot on the thick strip of binding alongside the neck heel and the heelcap. Most of the binding remains very good, but there are a few cracks along the edges. Other than that there is very little wear at all, a couple of scrapes on the back of the headstock is about it. A very nice player with a solid neck angle and a great sound, complete with an excellent OHSC. Excellent - Condition.
