Gretsch Deluxe Chet Model #7680 Model Arch Top Hollow Body Electric Guitar (1976), made in Booneville, Arkansas, serial # 6-2246, cherry lacquer finish, laminated maple body, maple neck with ebony fingerboard, original grey hard shell case.
In the 1970's Gretsch offered a brace of new Chet Atkins models, made in their Booneville, Arkansas factory. This Deluxe Chet is a deep body instrument with modified trestle bracing, two Filter 'Tron pickups and a Bigsby, typical Atkins appointments. The body shape with the rounded upper bout was typical of the newer Baldwin era Gretsch guitars, extended into the Super Chet and Atkins Axe models also designed for their longtime endorser. This is a very classy instrument, with triple binding on the body, all gold plated hardware and a deep burgundy finish. While 1970's Gretsch guitars do not have the collectors cachet of many 1950's and '60's models, they are very nicely made and fine sounding instruments.
Overall length is 43 1/4 in. (109.9 cm.), 17 1/4 in. (43.8 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 1/2 in. (622 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). Very clean and all original, a superb example of this unusual 1970's Gretsch. There are a few small chips and dings, and some wear to the gold plating but really this is a super nice instrument for being 40 years old! An excellent player, sounds great and includes a nice original case Overall Excellent Condition.
