Item #6689

Gibson Style A Model Carved Top Mandolin (1918), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 45676, brown stain finish, birch back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck, original black hard shell case.

Overall length is 25 5/8 in. (65.1 cm.), 10 1/8 in. (25.7 cm.) width, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.). Not too much play wear on this one but some overall finish damage (mostly light flaking to the top) from the disintegration of the (now missing!) celluloid pickguard. All other hardware is original and intact. There is a spot on the back where the varnish finish softened slightly and picked up some pattern from fabric; this could be polished out if desired. Overall this is a very nice player with the more open tone of the later 'teens models. Includes a good OHSC. Very Good + Condition.
