Item #6693
Gibson Style A- Model Carved Top Mandolin (1912), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 17035, brown stain finish, birch back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, black hard shell case.
Overall length is 26 1/4 in. (66.7 cm.), 10 1/8 in. (25.7 cm.) width, and 1 11/16 in. (4.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/16 in. (30 mm.). This old Gibson is a very nice player, recently refretted and set up. All original except for a more recent bridge; the tuners, pickguard and tailpiece remain intact. There have been some typical re-seal repairs to the back/rim joints with some finish touch-up and overfinish to the sides and back, noticeable on close inspection. There is some darkening to the patina of the original varnish top finish but not a lot of wear, a very good player's example of the classic Gibson A-now well over 100 years old! Includes a very solid HSC. Very Good + Condition.
